CMAA Introduction to Concrete Masonry and Pavers

This course provides a background on the benefits and advantages of concrete masonry and paving. After completing this course you will be able to:
- Define what is meant by “concrete masonry”, and “pavers”;
- Define common terminology used in relation to concrete masonry and pavers;
- Describe and list the characteristics, colours, shapes, properties, and laying patterns of concrete masonry/pavers;
- Describe how concrete bricks, blocks, and pavers are manufactured;
- Name and identify the Australian standards to which concrete masonry and pavers must conform; and
- Explain the National Metric Code and its uses.
The Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA) is the peak body that represents the concrete masonry manufacturers of Australia. This includes bricks, blocks, pavers and retaining walls.
We support the concrete masonry industry by providing technical information and advice to architects, engineers, specifiers and educators. We publish technical manuals and data relating to concrete block walling, concrete paving, permeable paving and concrete masonry retaining walls, which are free to download from this website. The Association also conducts workshop courses and provides a technical advisory service for masonry design queries.
